Lushan is a delightful 1900’s period property set on a peaceful private road in the wonderful seaside village of Walberswick. This much loved family home boasts plenty of character with interesting features including period fireplaces, a charming country kitchen and a glorious mature garden.
There’s a rather grand feel as you enter this property – a large oak door, complete with a lion knocker (which is said to act as guardian to the home), opens to a spacious entrance hall with a wide, spindled staircase and hallway to the rest of the ground floor rooms.
There are two sitting rooms; the first is to the front of the property and could almost be described as a library; and the second with a bay window overlooking the back garden is a cosy retreat for the evenings – there’s a smart TV with Sky here too. The dining room is a grand room for evening meals, whilst in the kitchen, with dual aspect views of the garden, there is a further table and chairs, perfect for breakfast. You’ll also find a shower room with WC and basin as well as a utility room on the ground floor.
Upstairs are three roomy bedrooms and a family bathroom with over-bath shower. The bedroom to the front of the property offers great flexibility with either a twin or super-king configuration. Two steps lead to the double room, which has a fabulous wardrobe that looks sure to lead to Narnia, and the king size bedroom with serene views across the marshes to the sea.
Outside there’s a beautiful mature garden with plenty of secret places for family hide and seek. The large bay tree provides shade on those hot summer days but there’s plenty of space to enjoy the sun’s rays too. With table and chairs and a small coal barbecue there lots of opportunity for eating in the fresh air. The driveway has parking space for one car and there’s ample space along the roadside for a further two vehicles if required.
Lushan is the perfect retreat for families or three couples looking for a coastal escape from it all. It’s pet-friendly too, accepting two well-behaved dogs. The Anchor Inn and the village green are just a few steps away and the beach and the village shop are within a 5-minute walk.
