Durrants Cottage of the Year – Gold Award Winner 2022
This award is based on feedback scores provided by guests during 2022. Feedback covers such aspects as facilities, decor and cleanliness.

Waimana is a beautiful refurbished detached bungalow with a New England style front addition. Spacious and light, the property was built in the 1920s as a retreat for a retiring sailor. It has stunning uninterrupted views over marshland and is conveniently located within close proximity to the town, beach, boating lake and award-winning Southwold Pier. The interior has a subtle retro nautical feel but boasts a number of modern features such as under floor heating, a vaulted roof light and bi- folding doors onto the decking area. The garden at Waimana is a hidden gem with lawned area, patio and summer house offering seclusion and privacy, the perfect place for some al fresco dining. There's also the huge benefit of sought after off road parking.

  • This property ticks so many boxes. It feels like a home from home, yet one feels as if it is a holiday treat. As a family of four, we really enjoyed having plenty of space to use. The second smart TV is a nice edition - my teenage and nine year old daughter have very different viewing interests! Great position in Southwold - Wonderful view over Buss Creak so we felt like we were well away from what is often are rather busy high street and market square - yet it is less than a 10 min walk to pick up the daily provisions. Great to be seeing close to the beach. The girls loved the early morning walks along North Road (along the private part) looking out for the rabbits - you wouldn’t see this easily with a ‘centre of town property’.

  • Saw marsh harriers and skeins of geese flying over the marshes in front of Waimana. Such a wonderful bungalow and garden. We fed the sparrows using the feed provided. Thank you for the cake. We're looking forward to returning. This is way and above our most favourite holiday home in the 36 years we have stayed in Southwold.

  • A beautiful and sensitively property on the quiet outskirts of town but just a few minutes walk to the pier. The sun lounge alone makes it hard to leave for the day!
