Bach’s St Matthew Passion Concert | Snape Maltings

Ipswich Chamber Choir’s presentation of Bach’s “Great Passion” marks the pinnacle of a four-year Passion Cycle. This performance represents the culmination of the highly praised Bach Passion Cycle, executed in partnership with Amici Voices and the Geldart Ensemble. In keeping with the esteemed tradition of Snape Maltings, this collaborative effort has fostered a strong bond between some of East Anglia’s most talented amateur singers and exceptional professional musicians.
Easter Adventure Quest | Framlingham Castle
Date: 5 – 27 April 2025
Experience the excitement of an adventure quest at Framlingham Castle this Easter holiday. Solve the clues scattered throughout the grounds and earn a delightful chocolate reward. Tickets for the quest are £2 per child, and standard admission fees are applicable. No advance booking is necessary; simply arrive on the day.
Pond Dipping | Dunwich Heath National Trust
Date: 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20 April 2025
Join the Dunwich Heath team for pond dipping sessions held on weekends during the Easter holidays. Explore a variety of wildlife, such as dragonfly larvae, caddisfly larvae, pond mites and many more. Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult.
Sounds of Spring | RSPB Minsmere Nature Reserve
Date: 8 and 15 April 2025
Join the Minsmere guides for an early morning walk timed to coincide with the peak of birdsong activity. Learn the difference between various warblers, tits and finches. All ticket prices include reserve entry fees and a hot drink in the cafe after the walk.
RSPB Family Wildlife Walk | Snape Maltings
Date: 8 and 15 April 2025
This engaging family walk, designed specifically for children’s interests, takes participants through reedbeds and hedgerows while exploring the diverse wildlife of Snape, including birds, butterflies and other insects. Led by passionate RSPB volunteers, this activity offers an energetic introduction to the natural wonders of the area. The walk commences and concludes at Snape Maltings. Participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars, and it is advisable to wear waterproof clothing and good footwear.
Easter Family Fun | The Red House, Aldeburgh
Date: 8 and 9 April 2025
Experience The Red House in Aldeburgh this Easter by engaging in their interactive storytelling sessions along with themed music and craft activities designed for families. Participate in the Easter Egg Hunt, where concealed sounds will guide you to your reward. Plus, there’s craft activities where children can create their own musical instruments and a variety of outdoor games. Each booked session lasts for one hour, but you are welcome to explore The Red House and its garden at your leisure before and after your visit.
Reptile Ramble | RSPB Minsmere Nature Reserve
Date: 9 and 16 April 2025
Engage with reptile specialists at Minsmere as they seek out rare species. Explore recognised basking locations for Adders and investigate common hiding areas for Grass Snakes, Slow Worms, and Common Lizards, situated away from the primary visitor paths. This event is subject to good weather conditions. All ticket prices include reserve entry fees and a hot drink in the cafe after the walk.
Children’s Wild Wire Workshop | Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve, Carlton Colville
Date: 10 April 2025 – morning and afternoon sessions
Participate in this lovely children’s workshop with local wire artist Paul Green at Carlton Marshes this Easter. Create wire dragonflies, inspired by the nature found within the reserve. Suitable for children aged 5 years and older, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. All materials will be provided and timing dependent, the workshop will feature a brief outdoor walk, so please come along in suitable clothing.
Trio Farben I Lunchtime Concert | Snape Maltings
Date: 11 April 2025
Reflective compositions for flute, viola, and harp by Bax and Ravel are paired with Saariaho’s New Gates and contemporary pieces by Imogen Davey. Established in 2019 at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Trio Farben honours the distinctiveness and harmony of this exceptional instrumental ensemble, collaborating with composers to create new works while also reviving overlooked masterpieces.
Spring Field Sketchbook Workshop | Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve, Carlton Colville
Date: 12 and 14 April 2025
This course, led by local artist Ruth Wharrier, will empower participants to develop their own naturalist sketchbooks and gain the confidence to draw outdoors. When registering for the course, please ensure you have reviewed the materials list, as these items will need to be brought with you.
Family Music Makers | Snape Maltings
Date: 13 April 2025
A free workshop focused on family music-making for children between the ages of 5 and 10, along with their grown-ups, will take place this Easter holiday at Snape Maltings. This workshop features warm-up exercises, musical games, and the creation of original music. Central to these workshops are the children’s voices, suggestions, and ideas, with activities designed to encourage self-expression, leadership, active listening, decision-making, and the exploration of memories and imagination.
Easter Adventures | Dunwich Heath

Easter Eggstravaganza | Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve, Carlton Colville
Date: 17 April 2025 – morning and afternoon sessions
Join the Easter celebrations at Carlton Marshes. Discover the nature reserve trail followed by activities in the woods and visitor centre for Easter fun. Part of the event features a half mile walk across uneven ground, so please ensure children have appropriate footwear. Suitable for children aged 3+.
Creative Ceramic Tile Workshop | Carlton Marshes Nature Reserve, Carlton Colville
Date: 18 April 2025 (Good Friday)
Participate in a delightful and engaging workshop at Carlton Marshes, led by local ceramic artist Margaret Parsons. You will create a nature-themed clay tile to take home. This event is tailored for beginners and aspiring artists who find inspiration in the natural world, making it suitable for both adults and children aged 6 and above, with adult supervision required for children. While most of the workshop will take place indoors, participants are encouraged to wear suitable clothing for a brief stroll around the reserve.
