Mr & Mrs H June 2025

I can't thank the staff in Durrants Southwold enough. We arrived in Southwold to find we had been let down by another company and had no accommodation. We came to Durrants who couldn’t have been more helpful. Thank you all so much - you saved our holiday and we had a great time. We will be back.

Mrs J, June 2025

Excellent service! Even when it came to the collection of a mobility scooter, which we had rented from a different company - 11 out of 10 for helpfulness and friendly service!

Mrs M July 2025

Friendly and professional, couldn't be better.

Mr W, July 2025

When I originally spoke to a member of your staff, she was very helpful and it made using you a simple choice. Local knowledge is key.

Frequently Asked Questions About Your Southwold Holiday

How do I book a holiday cottage in Southwold?

Browse our properties online, check availability, and book instantly through our secure booking system. Or call us on 01502 723292 for personal recommendations based on your needs.

What happens after I book?

You’ll receive an immediate booking confirmation by email with your reservation details. Around 4 weeks before your arrival, we’ll send comprehensive joining instructions including your cottage address, directions, parking information, check-in details, and our emergency contact number. A few days before you arrive, we’ll email final reminders and local tips.

What time can I check in and out?

Check-in is from 4pm on your arrival day, giving us time to ensure your Southwold holiday home is spotlessly clean and ready. Checkout is by 10am on your departure day. If you need different times, just ask – we’ll try to accommodate when possible.

What’s included in my cottage?

All our Southwold holiday cottages include bed linen, bath towels, WiFi, heating, and a fully equipped kitchen. Many also have welcome packs with essentials like tea, coffee, milk, and local information. Full amenity lists are on each property page.

Is there parking at the cottage?

Many of our holiday homes in Southwold include private or allocated parking – this is clearly marked on each listing. For cottages without parking, we’ll provide information about nearby public car parks. Contact us if parking is essential and we’ll help you find the right property.

Can I bring my dog?

Many of our Southwold holiday rentals welcome well-behaved dogs. Use the ‘Pet Friendly‘ filter when searching to see dog-friendly properties. Each listing specifies how many dogs are allowed, any breed restrictions, and whether there’s an enclosed garden. A small pet supplement usually applies.

What happens if something goes wrong during my stay?

Call our office on 01502 723292 during business hours, or use the emergency number provided in your welcome pack outside office hours. We’re local, so we can usually resolve issues quickly – often within the hour.

What if I need to cancel?

Please refer to our booking conditions for full cancellation terms. We strongly recommend travel insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances. Our team can discuss your individual situation if you need to cancel or rearrange.

How far is it to the beach?

Most of our Southwold holiday homes are within a 5-15 minute walk to the beach. Properties in Walberswick and Reydon are also close to beautiful beaches and coastal walks. Exact distances are shown on each listing.

Do you offer short breaks?

Yes, short breaks (typically 3-4 nights) are available outside peak season and school holidays. During summer and school holidays, we usually require a full week booking. Check availability online or call us.

Let With Us

If you own a holiday home or are thinking of letting one, we can help. As Southwold’s original letting agent, established in 1905, we offer trusted local expertise and a truly personal service.

We manage a wide range of properties across Southwold and the surrounding villages, handling everything from bookings and guest management to maintenance and compliance so letting your property is effortless.

Many of our owners have partnered with us for over a decade thanks to our hands-on approach and attention to detail.

Why Choose Durrants for Your Southwold Holiday Cottage?

Since 1905, we have been Southwold’s original letting agent, and over a century in the business has given us a genuine understanding of holiday cottages in this area. That kind of experience reflects generations of guests who have returned to us time and again.

Our team is based locally in Southwold, so we know our properties well. We can advise you on which cottages catch the morning sun, where to find a good crab sandwich, and when the tide is best for crabbing on the beach.

When you contact us about a holiday let, you will speak directly to someone who can help you find the right property, rather than being directed through a call centre.

Each of our cottages is inspected personally by our team, and we maintain them to a standard we would be happy to stay in ourselves.

We currently have more than 80 holiday homes across Southwold and the surrounding villages, ranging from seafront apartments to dog-friendly cottages with their own garden, so we are likely to have something to suit your needs.

You are welcome to browse and book online at any time, or visit our High Street office should you prefer to speak with us in person.
